Ada yang tahu bagaimana perasaan seorang ibu yang memiliki double job yah? Sebagai wanita karir, istri dan seorang ibu? Now it’s triple job then. Pasti repot, rumit, seru, lucu kadang stress juga. Itulah kira-kira yang dirasakan Hannah Andhito, seorang wanita sukses masa kini yang bekerja di perusahaan multinasional. Hannah bersuamikan Wigraha Andhito (Wigra) dan mempunyai putra yang sangat lucu dan cerdas berusia 2 tahun, Razsya.

Dilemma menjadi seorang ibu dan wanita karir sekaligus kerap mewarnai konflik-konflik kecil di novel ini. Dari Razsya yang lebih dekat dengan nanny dan eyangnya, kebiasaan buruk Hannah yang lebih mentingin baca People daripada berinteraksi dengan putranya, sampai perbedaan pendapat dengan ibunya tentang bagaimana mengurus Razsya dengan baik. Proses bagaimana Hannah bertransformasi dari wanita karir super sibuk hingga memahami bahwa seorang anak lebih baik dibesarkan sendiri oleh orang tuanya dituangkan dengan baik di novel ini.

Itulah sejumput cerita dari novel Rumah Cokelat oleh Sitta Karina. Ini adalah novel Sitta Karina yang saya baca pertama kali karena saya kira tadinya novel-novel Sitta bergenre teenlit. Melihat novel ini beraliran beda (momlit)  dan rekomendasi teman yang bilang novel ini bagus, maka saya memutuskan untuk beli dan baca.

Memang benar, novel ini sungguh menginspirasi buat saya. Novel ini memberikan gambaran kira-kira seperti apa sih kehidupan seorang ibu rumah tangga kelak. Karena jujur, menjadi seorang Hannah adalah salah satu impian saya. Karir dan keluarga berjalan seirama. Tapi melihat apa yang terjadi pada Razsya yang cenderung lebih dekat dengan mbak Upiknya (yang saya ga mau banget anak saya nanti lebih dekat dengan orang lain daripada orang tuanya sendiri), saya jadi mikir kalo nanti enaknya kerja bisa dirumah sambil ngurus anak.

Tapi tetap saja ada sisi yang kurang dari novel ini.

•  Kita mulai dari Hannah sendiri, ntah mengapa saya rasa tokoh Hannah ini agak manja dan masih butuh bimbingan. Sedangkan saya berharap sosok Hannah bisa lebih kuat dan tangguh mengingat banyaknya tanggung jawab yang dia pikul.
• Yang kedua tentang sosok Wigra, buat saya dia terlalu sempurna sebagai seorang suami. Terlalu baik dan sabar. Sedikit ngintip dari timeline @sittakarina, ada yang bertanya apa ada sosok seperti Wigra? Yang saya simpulkan bahwa sosok seperti Wigra bukan tidak ada tapi sangat jarang, hehe.
• Yang terakhir masalah penulisan untuk dialog Razsya, saya sih berharapnya dialog Razsya ini sedikit dicadel-cadelkan khas anak kecil, biar lebih berasa lucunya :D.

Overall novel ini cocok untuk remaja-dewasa kok. Jadi buat yang belum married bisa banget menikmati novel ini sambil berandai-andai bagaimana jadi seorang ibu kelak, hihi.

Pasti gemes bin geregetan yah kalo kita sebagai seorang penulis dihadapkan sama editor yang super menyebalkan? Iya, itulah yg Nuna R. Mirja hadapi saat ini. Nuna adalah seorang penulis pemula yang karya pertamanya akan diterbitkan oleh GlobalBooks. Nah inilah masalahnya, alih-alih ketiban durian runtuh, Nuna malah dapat editor yang galak. Sebut saja Rengga Adi Prayoga, seorang jurnalis gagal yang akhirnya malah nyemplung ke dunia penerbitan, oalah! Tapi tapi tapi, kekesalan Rengga akan Nuna bukanlah sepenuhnya kesalahan Rengga. Nuna juga sih pake acara ga punya handphone, susah diajak kerja sama delele.

Yup! Itulah sepenggal kisah dari novel Writer VS Editor karya Ria N. Badaria. Jujur hal yang membuat saya tertarik untuk membeli novel ini adalah embel-embel “Penulis Muda Berbakat Terbaik Khatulistiwa Literary Award 2008-2009” yang bikin saya “wow! Pasti buku ini keren dan unik.”

Tapiii, setelah dibaca, well umm not bad sih. Cuma cerita di novel ini kok terkesan dipaksakan ya? Dan terdengar seperti dongeng-dongeng seorang putri rakyat jelata yang diperebutkan dua pangeran berkuda putih, awww! :D

Laluu, jika dilihat dari bahasa, novel ini terlihat seperti teenlit dan ada beberapa kalimat yang saya ga mudheng bacanya :|

To be honest I expect more dari sang penulis untuk lebih mengembangkan cerita. Karena ide awal tentang pekerjaan sebagai novelis dan editor adalah hal baru yang diangkat. Dan novel ini memberi wawasan baru tentang bagaimana susahnya menembus dunia penerbitan. Deeply hope next novel dari Ria N. Badaria lebih unik dan tidak terlalu ke-fairytale-an dan bahasanya lebih ditingkatkan.

What do you think if you love somebody but you are not mean to be together?

What do you feel if you are loved by someone but he hooks other women up?

What do you do if you love somebody but you feel fool enough to get him?

Those are some questions in my head. In the beginning of this book, you will feel warm-heart enough because the story is quite sweet and memorable. Meet Dexter Mayhem, a gorgeous and rich man, and also Emma Morley, a low-middle woman. This couple meet for the first time on the night of their graduation.

But sadly, in the next day they have to say bye-bye to another. But one thing that they remember and must do, one day, every July 15^th every year for about twenty years (1988-2006), they have to meet each other to talk about the story of their own life. Well sometimes by letters and a phone call too.

Overall about this book, emmm I rather dislike about the middle till the last chapter of this story. Why? Because I just don’t understand, if they both love each other, why don’t they get married or at least together?

The second is, I just don’t like they way Dexter and Emma spend the two decades in July 15^th because Dexter is busy having fun and making out to other women WHILE Emma is spending her life in a misery. Well not fair, huh?

The last thing is the ending, I don’t know, it seems like a flashback to twenty years ago where Dexter and Emma should separate a day after a graduation. I just don’t get it.

a Review of Ika Natassa's Underground

Ohaiyooo! I’m back with one more book review. This time I’ll discuss about my favorite writer’s book Ika Natassa, Underground. Underground is actually her first novel. She wrote it when she was 19 and she wrote it in English! Yes, this book was fully written in English. Super nice!

Okay back to the Underground itself, this book tells about the biggest music TV station in USA. It is a kind of MTV in real life. VJs, celebrities, music are easily found here. The plot of this book is easily to be understood, it is all about friendship and love. Let’s talk about it deeper:

Meet Liv Hunter, one of the Underground’s VJs and one of the Most 50 Beautiful People in the world. She is Blonde, edgy, chick, beautiful (of course), famous and lovable. Then meet her best friend, Stefan Marciano, her fellow VJ friend at Underground. Liv and Stefan are a best friend, until they’re tired of searching what-so-called soulmate and decided to become more than friends at last. Not only them, Underground has some coolest other VJs like Jared, Heather, Claire and many others. They bring their own unique stories I’m sure you won’t regret while reading it :)

Nah that’s a bit clue about this story that I wanna tell you. You have to buy this book to know the complete story :D

Overall this book is really refreshing. Because some characters here are very different with other Ika Natassa’s books. If her four novels (AVYW, Divortiare, Antologi Rasa, and Twivortiare) tell about a banker’s life, Underground serves some fresh characters. Even though this is Ika Natassa’s first novel (but came out after AVYW and Divortiare for some reasons), but this is the last book I read and of course it gives me something new about Ika’s books. This book flies my times back when I was in primary and secondary school, where MTV was my whole life! Haha true it is, I couldn’t live my any single day without watching it. So thank God I bought this book and thank you Ika Natassa for writing it :D

But there are things that “mengganjal” in my head about some parts of this book like, it is quite impossible for a popular and pretty lady like Liv who still remains virgin and she doesn’t drink beer? :| Also, this book was written in 1997, but why some VJs in this book mention about Jennifer Lopez’s Play and Nsync’s Girlfriend? Those songs supposed to be released after 2000s. But I don’t know if then Ika Natassa made some revisions about this story.

Well very good job for the author, and I deeply hope that she will write another English novel soon. :) pardon my English.
